There is an answer
supporting those who are locked into compulsive activity around food, and those who seek to help them

Have YOU recovered from an eating disorder?

ABC runs a befriending scheme, where recovered sufferers are linked with current sufferers to provide a supportive friendship which can help them to move towards recovery.

This is a very popular scheme, and we are always short of people who are able to be befrienders.

If you have recovered from a sufferer, could this be something you could do?  It is a great way to help someone else who is still in the middle of their own eating disorder.

For more information about the scheme, contact us.

(Please note - all our befrienders must be happy to sign and endorse our statement of faith)

Supporting ABC financially

ABC is a registered charity, and as such we are dependent on the generosity of individuals to fund our work.

Although we work very hard on fundraising, most grant making organisations and trusts are reluctant to fund eating disorders.  This means our income comes almost entirely from the people that we help and support.

If you decide to become a member we will ask you to consider making a donation to cover the cost of your membership.  This is not compulsary as we know some people simply cannot afford it.  However, we do ask you to support our work if you can.

If you do not want to become a member and are seeking support or information, we hope that you have found this site useful.  We will do all we can to answer your questions and give you the help you need.  Please consider giving us a donation in order to help to ensure our work can continue and that we will still be here to help the next person in need.

Donations can be sent to ABC at our mailing address:

PO Box 173.  Letchworth.  Herts.  SG6 1XQ

Interested in volunteering for ABC?

Although we do employ a few members of staff, most of our work is done by volunteers.

If you are interested in volunteering for ABC, please do get in touch and tell us a little bit about yourself.  Although our central office is in Hertfordshire, we are always looking for people across the country who have time to give to our work.

If you run a support group, or are about to start one, and are interested in affiliating to ABC, please contact us.
